If there was a Gourmet Heaven, it would be located at Hilton KL as I have been there and back to tell the tale. It’s a great time to visit the F & B outlets at Hilton KL as they have pulled out all the stops to make this festive season memorable for all diners.

So my culinary journey at Hilton KL started at Vasco’s where there’s always a fantastic buffet spread. From now till 31st December 2014, Vasco’s presents an epicurean spread crafted for this joyous month. Chef Hashrul is in charge of all the appetizers and main courses.

Let’s have a look at what is on offer and I promise it will whet your appetite.

Every time I have had turkey during Christmas, I’ve never had a good experience because it’s always turned out dry and so I don’t have any turkey cravings. However the honey-glazed spice brined roast turkey with chestnut stuffing at Vasco’s is moist, tender and juicy. It’s everything good roast turkey should be. The skin is so crisp and yummy that I asked for seconds. Or I think I went for thirds. It is served with butternut squash, brussels sprouts, cranberries and giblet sauce. This is the star dish of the buffet and I suggest you go for this first as it is very popular. The turkey is from USA.

Green and White Asparagus Salad is the 1st of the 2 Gourmet Christmas Salads. The salad is delicious as the onions used are quite special, they don’t have that heavy and strong pungent onion taste one normally associates with onions.

Then there’s the Truffle Mayonnaise Heirloom Tomatoes Salad with Shallot and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I am not a huge fan of tomatoes so the Green and White Asparagus Salad would be my preferred Gourmet Christmas Salad but the Truffle Mayonnaise Heirloom Tomatoes Salad with Shallot and Extra Virgin Olive Oil would delight tomato fans.

The Roasted Butternut Squash with Apple Soup is creamy and hearty, you just might go for 2 bowls.

The Symphony of Seafood is just amazing and I just couldn’t resist having more than a few scallops and they looked so good and fresh. They taste absolutely gob-smackingly delicious with the wasabi mayo sauce.

The Stone Hearth Pizza of the Festive Menu is Slow Roasted Turkey, Cranberry, Brie and Avocado Pizza. The crust is ultra-thin and this is a true gourmet pizza. The turkey is moist and goes so well with the brie and avocado.

Vasco’s Hilton KL Festive Menu 2014 has festive favourites, mouth-watering rotisserie, Western and Asian delicacies and divine desserts

Chef Paul is pastry chef extraordinaire and when I saw his creations, I almost wept with joy. It was so sacrilegious to cut into his cakes. I would recommend that he be on “Sweet Genius” as Chef Paul is a sweet genius, there’s no doubt about it. Just look at his tantalizing desserts.

That’s right. I had a slice of each cake as I couldn’t resist. Looking at these fab cakes, who can resist even if you don’t have much of a sweet tooth? I finished every scrap and my plate was clean, leaving me not much room for the rest that was to follow but I would have done the same thing again as Chef Paul’s cakes are simply the best.
