Life Centre continues to be a happening place on weekdays when office workers from the vicinity flock there for lunch but on weekend nights especially, the place could do with a bit more of a crowd. Perhaps the steep weekend parking charges have something to do with it. It’s RM10 flat rate on weekends which is a lot when all one does there is eat.
Vespa Pizza faces Jalan Perak and is directly opposite the new Fraser Place which is an event centre as well as hotel. This is a small and modest eatery, prices are reasonable for an Italian diner. There’s al fresco seating but unless you are smoking, who wants to breathe in the pollution from passing vehicles?
One of the co-owners of Vespa is Italian and the owners also manage La Boca in Pavilion. I understand they serve Latin American cuisine there with live music, sounds interesting and my kind of thing as I am quite into anything to do with Latin America but I will save that for another day.
To cater to the office workers, Vespa has a breakfast menu (8 am-12 noon) ranging from RM11-13. Their calzone pastry is made in the shop. I know that it isn’t easy to get calzone pastry right, it’s a lot of hard work! Maybe making puff pastry is easier.
They also serve pizza by slice just as they do in Italy. The sliced pizza goes for RM12 each and every Monday to Friday from 12 noon till stocks last, there are 6-7 varieties available. There’s salmon, pesto chicken, margherita, tandoori, pepperoni mushroom among others.
This is the place to go if you have a friend to have coffee/tea with as all their coffees/teas are Buy 1 Free 1 from 9 am-12 pm/3 pm till close. Coffee is Illy so you can expect pretty good quality. I had an Americano and it was much better than some better known coffee chains.
12″ Salmon Pizza RM25
Pizzas come in 2 sizes – 6″ and 12″. It’s RM15 for the 6″. The crust is very thin and the salmon pizza had the right amount of everything from the salmon to the aragula. Salmon tasted fresh which is very important as I’ve often been put off by salmon that tasted like it came from a can. All their pizzas include their special blend of tomato and herb pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Spaghetti Carbonara RM15
All the pasta dishes are priced at RM15 and the quantity and quality impressed me. The sauce was thick enough, there were generous amounts of beef bacon and it wasn’t too salty. If I ever have a craving for pasta, Vespa would be one of the few places I’d think of.
For a minimum order of RM20, Vespa deliver foc to Frasers Place and for a minimum order of RM30, Vespa delivers to locations within the immediate vicinity. They do set lunches e.g. pizza slice + soda, pasta + soda, salad + soda, calzone + soda, sandwich + soda all at RM15.
They cater for all occasions be it corporate lunches, office parties, grand openings or any other functions/events. Vespa Pizza’s telephone number is 03-2162 4333.
i am hungry after seeing this ><
