What A Doll From Pupa Puposka Collection

Before I went to Hong Kong a few months ago, I was determined not to be tempted by all that Sasa had available there which is a lot more than Sasa outlets here. I was just going to do some window shopping. I’m not one of those who will easily fall for gimmicky products but all resolve went out the window when I spotted the Pupa Puposka Collection. There are 4 dolls altogether, in black, white, pink and purple.

Don’t you think the design is more than a bit contradictory? Here you have a Puposka doll, all covered up from head to toe looking like she wouldn’t be out of place in Iran other than she needs a face veil and the doll has a burlesque theme? Right on the doll’s front is a silhouette of a burlesque dancer in what I presume is a dance pose.

Rotate the doll’s face and you’ll see a mirror, tug at the silver chain at the right side of the doll (the chain incidentally is in the shape of the doll, how clever is that!) and you’ll find 2 eye shadows and 2 lip glosses. The left side of the doll doesn’t have a chain but there’s a  tiny crack on the doll’s side for you to pull and it’s the same number of eye shadows and lip glosses there. Of course, one has to pull on the chain very, very gently as I don’t think this is a sturdy product by any stretch of the imagination! Different color dolls have different color eye shadows and lip glosses.

No swatches, this is purely a collector’s item, one to be gazed upon affectionately from time to time! I love it, gimmicky or not. This is the doll I never had as a child, not that my mother would have bought it for me or maybe she would have and used the products on herself. How cool is this doll! I’m quite proud of my spending restraint as this is the only item I purchased from Sasa Hong Kong for HKD148.
