At the Spring 2013 NY Fashion Week shows, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Jason Wu – each exhibited their distinct fashions with one consistent trend – matte, baby-faced skin.  An exciting trend for many women but statistically, this trend will be tough to follow as over 56% of people globally have normal to oily skin[1].

To meet the needs of its demanding customers around the world, Kiehl’s has a solution.  Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free line is an effective daily regimen to visibly reduce oil on skin, without stripping the skin of essential moisture.  Ultra Facial Oil-Free is a clinically proven range to balance skin in as little as 1 week[2].

According to New York based makeup artist Fabiola Arancibia[3], “powders aren’t necessarily the best solution for oily skin, and definitely not long term. They can extenuate imperfections, especially dry patches or aging skin.”  Industry experts agree powders can be challenging for medium to darker complexions.

Kiehl’s chemists’ key objective, when developing Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Collection, was to balance the skin without stripping and over-drying it.  The new breakthrough technology fuses the benefits of moisture-retaining ingredients and naturally-derived sugar to release pure hydration into skin and then lock in moisture. The results are scientifically proven 24-hours of shine control and long-lasting moisturization[4].  The daily regimen – featuring a cleanser, toner, and gel cream – works to visibly reduce oil on skin, without stripping skin of essential moisture and without the use of mattifying powders.

“Many people believe that excess oil on skin needs to be continuously washed, blotted and dried out with astringents and powders, but this can lead to barrier function damage and moisture loss. The key is to actually ensure the skin is properly hydrated so that it doesn’t over-produce oil,” shares Cammie Cannella, Vice President Global Education and Customer Relations for Kiehl’s. “We advise our customers to ‘get off of the oily skin roller coaster’ by switching to a simple routine customized for oilier skin that results in a healthy, balanced complexion.”
