You know when you have an early or a light lunch, you tend to feel peckish by 3pm and you want to look for something for tea time? Well Wonderbar at Avenue K is just the place to head to if you are looking for a snack or two. You sit on bar stools facing the kitchen where the chef prepares your yakitori. They offer a variety of yakitori such as chicken, salmon with garlic sauce, beef and prawn with garlic sauce. Should you prefer something slightly heavier than yakitori, there are snacks such as Grilled Japanese Dried Kawahagi (Grilled Dried Fish), Mamasan Beef Tataki (Lightly Grilled Beef, Tomato Garli, Sesame with Ponzu Sauce), Mamasan Fried Chicken (Fried Chicken with Homemade Wasabi Tartar Sauce) and Wasabi Tako (Raw Squid with Wasabi).
While waiting for your meal, watch the chef skewer the seafood on to the sticks and place them on the grill. It doesn’t take long at all since these seafood cook in a jiffy and before you can say “Wonderbar”, the plates are on the counter and you tuck in with gusto. The prawns were a little too salty for my liking but the salmon was perfection. I wouldn’t even mind having a few more salmon skewers. Wonderbar is THE place to head to for a quick snack and although the meal is light, it is enough to satisfy those hunger pangs!
Wonderbar is located on Level G Avenue K
