Oriental Kopi Pavilion Bukit Jalil For Local Favourites & Long Queues

Ordinarily, I won’t join a queue at a restaurant because I know I can always come back another day when it’s less crowded but I was hungry and curious about Oriental Kopi @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil. This was the night of the Ainz & Tulpe media preview. At the entrance, there was a never-ending queue waiting patiently to be ushered to a table. Customers can takeaway their Polo Buns and egg tarts at a counter set up outside.

As it turned out, didn’t have to wait that long for a table, less than10 minutes waiting time. Browsing through the menu (by the way, I like places that still offer a physical menu instead of asking customers to scan the code), it was obvious their specialty is local dishes and drinks which don’t come cheap.

Curry Chicken Rice

The Curry Chicken Rice looked delicious in the photo. If you are not too hungry, you can choose the Curry Chicken with toasted bread but just 2 slices of bread (actually 1 piece cut in 2) doesn’t seem enough for the generous amount of sauce. It’s RM16.90 if you choose rice and RM12.90 if you choose toast.

There are adequate pieces of chicken in the bowl BUT all of them have more bones than meat. I could hardly get any meat off the pieces. Ended up just mixing the sauce with rice to fill up my grumbling tummy. The sauce is thick, fragrant and overall just awesome without being over spicy. This is one of the better chicken curry sauces I have tasted in years. Pity about the chicken pieces though.

I was very thirsty so I ordered the Longan Luo Han Guo @ RM7.90. The food arrived before the drink and I had to call the waiter over to ask him to check on the drink. I would have thought this drink is easy to prepare as they probably have a whole pot of it and all they have to do is fill up the mug. Even easier than making coffee which by the way, arrived before the food. The coffee is thick and worth the premium price.
