Shu Uemura Enchanted Black Parellel Eyes & Cheek Palette

Although I am not a fan of anime artwork, I can appreciate the illustrations on all of Shu Uemura’s Princess Collection products, especially the Parellel Eye & Cheek palettes. At first glance, even without swatching the shades in either palette, I had a feeling I would be more into the Enchanted Black Palette as one can pull off a natural or party look without much effort. Not that you can’t with the other palette (review coming up) but I prefer the colours in the Enchanted Black.

The mirror is sizeable and there are sponge tip and brush applicators in the palette. Four of the shadows are 0.5g more than the other three. There are no matte shadows, all are iridescent, shimmer, frosty metallic. Colour pay-off is excellent, the shadows can be used dry or wet but I think it’s strong enough even when used dry. That’s what I like about Shu shadows, most of them are not annoyingly sheer.

My favourite shades in the palette are on the top row especially the gold and silver. The violet and dark purple on the second row are nice but I have dupes for them in other palettes so they aren’t very special to me although they are lovely purples. There’s only one light shade which can be used as a highlighter.

My other favourite shade is the blackened olive next to the blush as it’s great for a smoky eye look. I wish there was more of this shade as it’s definitely one of the more outstanding shades in this palette. Can’t say I love the pink blush and besides, it is rather sheer and has to be layered for effect.

SHU UEMURA

Overall, a very nice palette whether you want to pull off the understated day look or strong smoky look. The powders are not chalky or powdery and have a rather creamy texture when applied to eyelids. Shu Uemura Enchanted Black Parellel Eyes & Cheek Palette has 4 shadows x 1.4g, 3 shadows x 0.9g & the blush is 4.5g.
